When there is a problem with the track of your sliding door you can simply fix it by following a number of simple instructions. Hold down the spring loaded guide on the opposite side of the other door panel and swing the door until the guide is under the track. Use an aerosol lubricant to lubricate all the door rollers. Direct the part of the door towards you and take out the door from the closet.

Then wipe it with a damp rag. To clean and lubricate the hardware of a sliding closet door use a stiff brush a toothbrush or a hand vacuum to clean dust from the tracks. Sliding closet doors operate on rollers that are positioned in tracks at the top jamb and floor allowing the doors to bypass each other in the tracks. If a roller is stuck unscrew and remove it.

Remove a door by lifting and tilting the bottom out. Once secure release the door. Take one of the doors down by lifting it and angling the bottom toward you until the rollers clear the top track then pulling it toward you. Lift your sliding closet door upwards into the top track.

Then retighten the screw close the doors and check the fit. Because sliding doors don t fold out the way bifold doors do they allow access to only half the width of the opening at a time.

If grime remains try wiping it up with a mild cleaner and a cloth. Fix it by gently grabbing the bent area with a pair of pliers or vise grips bending it back into place. Loosen the set screw on the top bracket and slide the bracket slightly along the track to adjust the space between the top of the doors. Wiggle the door until the pivot snaps into the hole.
