Putty knife screwdriver safety glasses and gloves.
Step 1 remove the old handle.
You should secure the door so it can t be pulled shut and then take off the handle.
Leave the screw driver in.
Install the new piece by placing it into the opening and caulking into place.
Insert a screw driver through the bottom handle hole on the inside of the sliding glass door to hold the latch in place.
Remove the trim around the glass then carefully remove whatever glass remnants are left.
Take your graphite pen and insert it into the lowermost screw hole quickly to prevent the latch from falling into the frame.
If a patio door is difficult to operate won t lock properly or is loose or drafty make adjustments to the roller latch or strike to fix the issue.

First remove the screws securing the door handle in place first with your phillips screwdriver and slide the outer latch lever out of place.
Open the door so that you can remove the old handle of your sliding door.
Remove the screws above and below the latch.
